Centre-sud
Full range of rents. Primarily Francophone. Includes the Gay Village, where rents are generally higher than elsewhere in the district.
Côte-des-Neiges/Université de Montréal
Full range of rents. Ethnically diverse district with a high proportion of students. Much of the available housing is in larger apartment buildings, although walk-ups can be found as well.
Centre-Ville
Highest rents in the city. Majority of available housing is in larger or high-rise apartment buildings. The resident population is very diverse, and is comprised of a high proportion of students.
Hochelaga
Low to medium rents. Primarily Francophone. Some very nice older apartments available at reasonable prices.
Notre-Dame de-Grâce (NDG)
Medium to high rents. Primarily Anglophone and residential.
Vieux-Montréal
High rents. Mix of Anglophone and Francophone. A large number of luxury loft units in period industrial buildings that have been refurbished. Great restaurants and beautiful, historic neighbourhood.
Outremont
High rents. Primarily Francophone. Prestigious neighbourhood with good amenities and beautiful, well-maintained apartments.
Parc Extension
Low to medium rents. Primarily multi-ethnic with large South Asian and African communities.
Pointe St-Charles/Verdun
Low to medium rents. Primarily Anglophone, with a sizable Chinese community in Verdun. Some of the most affordable housing in Montreal is found in these districts.
Plateau Mont-Royal/Mile End
Generally high rents. Mix of Anglophone and Francophone. Predominantly Francophone and slightly lower rents the further east you go. Vibrant district with excellent amenities and night life.
Rosemont/Petite Patrie
Full range of rents, generally less expensive the further east you go. Primarily Francophone. Contains Little Italy and the Jean-Talon market, a multi-ethnic sector with diverse amenities where rents are generally high.
St-Henri/Little Burgundy
Mostly low to medium rents, although some high-end rental housing can be found in condominiums. Mix of Francophone and Anglophone.
Villeray
Low to medium rents. Primarily Francophone and multi-ethnic.
Westmount
High rents. Primarily Anglophone. Prestigious neighbourhood with good amenities and beautiful, well-maintained apartments.
